Gene Spain studied at Middle Tennessee State University, and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. He then attended the Florida Institute of Ultrasound in Pensacola, and began his career as a Sonographer. He spent five years as the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program Director and Assistant Professor at Volunteer State Community College. Since 2007, Gene started his own company, Medical Imaging & Staffing Services, and has worked as a Sonographer alongside physicians across Middle Tennessee. With over 25 years of experience as a Registered Sonographer, Gene is committed to using his experience and knowledge of Ultrasound to prepare his students at MTCVI for a successful and exciting career in this field.

Justin Ulrich, MBA, RDCS, RVT, RCIS, CCT

Justin Ulrich studied at Belmont University, where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree before attending the Naval Hospital Corps School. Justin then earned his Cardiovascular Technologist Certificate at the Naval School of Health Sciences. Justin gained his Master of Business Administration from Bethel University. He has over 16 years of experience as a Cardiac Sonographer, holding positions with the US Navy, Maury Regional Medical Center, Centennial Heart, and Vanderbilt University Medical Center as Director. Justin will be one of the experienced instructors at MTCVI devoted to providing quality education to students.

            Becky Miley received her Bachelor’s Degree in psychology at Western Kentucky University before earning her Master’s in Library Science at Vanderbilt University.   Becky came to Middle Tennessee Cardiovascular Institute in October 2017 after earning a Technical Certificate in Accounting from Nashville State Community College.

Robert Ripley, MD
Dr. Ripley is a cardiologist with over 44 years experience. Dr. Ripley is the Medical Director of Middle Tennessee Cardiovascular Institute, and his practice is located in a neighboring suite at Tristar Southern Hills Medical Center. 

Angela Hedgepath, RN, RDCS
Angela is the Lead Sonographer and Board Scheduling Coordinator for Non-Invasive Cardiology & Echo at Saint Thomas West Hospital. 

Kim Halliburton, CRA, MA, CNMT
Kim is the Assistant Director of Non-Invasive Diagnostics at Vanderbilt Heart & Vascular Institute. 

Marie Bell, RN, RDCS
Marie is a Registered Nurse as well as a Lead Clinical Education Cardiac Sonographer at Saint Thomas West Hospital.

John Mohr, MA, RDCS, RDMS, RVT
John is a Cardiovascular Sonographer at Tennova Lebanon.
